Clay Sculpture

Clay-Model

For my clay sculpture I wanted to do a hybrid of human and sea creature. The skeletal structure that I made is abstract in the sense of expressionism. This expressionistic style that I used on the clay sculpture is meant to represent a sense of freedom and uniqueness. For my sculpture I was thinking of this aquatic sea temple guard. This particular character guards an underwater sea temple, which is why I incorporated the use of this giant crab claw as one of its arms. The claw not only gives the piece scale change it also adds to the sea creature aspect. The reason for such abstract bones is to give off this “unknown species” effect on the piece. While some of the bones may look human, when looking at the piece it is unknown as to what species this creature may be.
